What is a Cylinder Liner?
A cylinder liner is a cylindrical component that fits inside the engine block to form the actual bore (the hollow chamber) where the piston moves up and down. Instead of the piston rings rubbing directly against the engine block material (like aluminum), they rub against the liner.
